Since 1990 the Rallye Aicha des Gazelle in the desert of Morocco has been the world’s only all-female rally race. Racers are pushed beyond their limits as they seek adventure and solidarity while testing their courage as well as physical and mental boundaries.
Over the last three years, Hoehn Adventures’ Jo Hannah and Susanna Hoehn, have been one of strongest American teams, finishing 3rd this year, out of 135 teams from 30 countries. The Hoehn’s also won Leg 3 of the competition navigating the treacherous Merzougas dunes, winning an award from the Moroccan Gaming and Sports Agency
The Gazelles are a diverse group of women, ranging in age, background, occupation and experience. Since its inception, the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles has created a new vision of automobile competition: no speed and no GPS, just old fashioned navigation, completely off-road: a return to the roots of Adventure. To succeed requires talent, determination, courage, solidarity and sense of sharing.
